Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

AutoCAD has been described as a “virtual drafting table”, since it is used to design structures and buildings as well as mechanical objects.
The term “AutoCAD” refers to the product, but the term “AutoCAD” and “AutoCAD” are also used to refer to the organization that develops, markets and sells the product. Autodesk was founded in 1982 by the three co-authors of AutoCAD, Gary Brudner, Walter Chen and Len Jen, and is headquartered in San Rafael, California, USA.
Autodesk’s first product was a desktop app that was released in 1982 and was shipped on a floppy disk.
AutoCAD added support for creating 3D drawings in 1988 and was the first CAD program to have a built-in interface to a graphical 3D hardware such as the 3Dconnexion 3D mouse. AutoCAD added many drafting features in the 1990s, including geometric solid modelling in 1992 and component design tools in 1994.
In November 1992, the Vectorworks family of products was launched. Vectorworks was the first commercial computer-aided design and drafting program that was available on a PC with a graphics monitor. Autodesk later acquired Vectorworks in August 1998.
AutoCAD became available for the first time on the Microsoft Windows platform in 1998. It was later made available for the Macintosh platform in 1999 and the first public release of AutoCAD for Linux was in 2001.
In 1998, Autodesk acquired Alias Systems Corp. (founded in 1994) for $290 million, then acquired Macromedia in January 2005 for $1.8 billion, and acquired Omnixa in October 2008.
According to IDC (a provider of market-leading technology market intelligence), in 2018 Autodesk was the fifth largest software company in the world and the third largest software company in North America. In 2019, Autodesk had approximately 55,000 employees worldwide and was valued at $16.3 billion. In 2019, Autodesk’s annual revenue was $1.7 billion, up from $1.4 billion in 2018.
Autodesk products are used in a wide range of markets including architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, product design and drafting. About half of Autodesk’s revenue is from the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) market, according to Autodesk’s 2017 annual report.

DXF files may be read using DXFread, which reads the geometry, images, layers, styles, and other metadata contained in an imported DXF file into the drawing environment. The format is based on the Prusa 3D CAD format. DXFread reads files in DXF format, and creates a drawing environment that can be exported in any of the supported formats.
EXR files may be read using EXRread, which reads the geometry, images, layers, styles, and other metadata contained in an imported EXR file into the drawing environment. The format is based on the GNU Portable BMP format. EXRread reads files in EXR format, and creates a drawing environment that can be exported in any of the supported formats.
Other formats are supported for import, including ASCII, SVG, and PDF.
A drawing can be saved in one of several formats, including DXF and PDF.
The drawing engine also supports images and text.
The Autodesk Portable Developer’s Kit (PDK) came with an “AutoCAD” editor for the Mac and Windows. The initial release of Autodesk Design Review was in June 2004. Version 3.0 was released on May 15, 2007. The early versions of the version 3.x line were released by AutoDesk on an annual basis. The last version for the PDK (5.0) was released in 2013.
Version 3.0 of Design Review included some new features:
Creation of 3D models
Creation of 2D drawings from 3D models
Construction of maps
Version 3.0 of Design Review was released on May 15, 2007.
Design Review uses the user interface from AutoCAD and allows users to interact with a drawing in a way not possible with AutoCAD itself. Some examples of interaction are the ability to click and drag objects in a 2D view or pan and zoom in and out of a 3D view.
Design Review was replaced by Autodesk Revit in 2007. Revit is a 3D modeling, detailing, and architecture software developed by Autodesk.
Design Review allows the user to enter text, including hyperlinks, tables, boxes, and equations. A 3D view is used for creating and editing parametric surfaces and for displaying 3D objects. These can be adjusted by the user.
The user interface is similar to that of AutoCAD, and displays 3D objects and text in 2D

British police have given Australia’s Foreign Minister Julie Bishop a clean bill of health on their advice, following her reassurances over Sydney’s mass marriage equality rally on August 24, 2014.
Ms Bishop called for an end to the bickering over Australia’s new same sex marriage laws after police expressed concerns about a planned protest on Hyde Park on August 24.
“We’ve spoken to the British police and they are happy that it’s all about civil liberties and not about promoting any religion or whether you have or don’t have a religious background,” Ms Bishop said.
Speaking on ABC radio on Thursday, Ms Bishop stressed that the protest was not to be seen as an attack on the British monarchy, and was in support of same-sex marriage in Australia.
“This is a demonstration to highlight the fact that there is a growing number of people in Australia, not only in the gay community but in the broader community, who are supportive of marriage equality,” she said.
“So to be able to go up to Hyde Park on August 24, people will be able to express their views in their own way and I think it’s important that we don’t make this a problem where it’s about religion, but a matter of civil liberties.”
Ms Bishop said the protest on August 24 was not an attack on the Queen or her staff, but aimed at government legislation to legalise same-sex

That’s why we continue to provide updates and new features to help you create and manage your designs efficiently.
New Product Feature – Inserting Slides:
Add slides from PowerPoint to your AutoCAD drawings. Insert or link to PowerPoint presentations, including images, into AutoCAD.
AutoCAD provides you with many built-in actions, such as importing layers, symbols, and reference images, to assist you in your design process. You can also develop custom actions for many applications, including PowerPoint. With the new Slide Insert action, you can insert a PowerPoint slide into a drawing. (video: 2:10 min.)
Modeling, adding symbols and reference images are all required to produce a professional-looking drawing. Now you can display, show, and hide elements that are essential to your drawing, without drawing them on the screen.
New Product Feature – Modeling Tools:
