2. “Maximum Linux” edition, the first to attempt to install Linux from the CD.
3. “Yellow Dog” edition, the first version to attempt to install Linux from the CD while running on the CD itself.
4. Has a WYSIWYG Text Editor (based on EDLIN).
5. Has simple GUI installation.
6. Installation has been made possible by the “initrd” technology (initrd used to be a non-standard feature of Linux).
7. Version 1.01 only contains an old version of lynx and a special “local root file system” version of WYSIWYG Text Editor.

Windows XP, codenamed Service Pack 2, is an operating system that was released by Microsoft as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems on August 24,2001. XP is the successor to Windows 2000, Service Pack 2, was released on October 25,2002, bringing together a number of fixes, improvements and new features. The service pack rolled out over a period of time, in April 2002, Windows XP was released with an extended support life cycle. In the absence of a support contract, many organizations have elected to pay Microsoft to support their Windows XP computers. The final versions of Windows XP reached the hardware manufacturers in January 2005 and Microsoft stopped distributing new versions of Windows XP on April 11,2009. One of the features of Windows XP was a new version of the Windows Explorer file manager, Windows XP also introduced other new user interface features such as themes and Internet Explorer 6, as well as a new theme called Windows XP. According to statistics released in 2005, Windows XP had become the most widely used operating system in the world, as of March 2012, it is the fourth most widely used operating system, after Apple OS X, Microsoft Windows Vista, and Linux. However, according to a February 2012 IDC survey, it is the most popular desktop OS, with a 35. 1% market share, in that same survey, Microsoft Windows 8 was the top selling desktop OS. As of October 2016, Microsoft has shipped with various forms of Windows, Windows XP was named an All Time Best Seller and Computer World Editor Choice, and received the Popular Choice award from PC World. The success of Windows XP was credited to the technologies introduced in Windows XP, notably the addition of a kernel-mode driver for DirectX 9 and many enhancements to the Internet Explorer web browser. According to The New York Times, by choosing to write the service pack code under the GPL, Microsoft was able to eliminate the need for a stable Windows operating system, microsoft has issued two service packs for Windows XP after its release, SP1 and SP2. Windows XP SP1 was released on October 25,2002 and was available as a retail upgrade from the volume-licensing program Windows XP Home. The retail edition contained a set of add-ons, such as a parental control tool called Family Safety Plus. Microsoft would not release a service pack for Windows XP that contained fixes to address security vulnerabilities that had already been patched in the release of the operating system.
